Al Kimiya from the Arabic word al-kīmiyāʾ (الكيمياء), which gave rise to the modern term “alchemy” is Mâalem’s debut EP. Blending hybrid pop, trip-hop, electronic music, and Middle Eastern influences, the project explores themes of love, desire, and marginality through lyrics in Arabic and English. Drawing on the idea of alchemy as an inner transformation, the EP turns pain, longing, and social rejection into beauty and artistic expression, transforming intimacy into a space of resistance, resilience, and renewal.
